位于Aspen的这座山间住宅建于20世纪90年代，虽坐拥雪坡与群山景致，室内氛围却显得清冷而缺乏性格。设计师弗朗西丝·梅里尔（Frances Merrill）及其事务所Reath Design受邀改造时，发现这座住宅“缺乏生活气息”。在她看来，这不仅是一次风格更新，更是为居所注入情绪张力与生活节奏的过程。

This mountain residence located in Aspen was built in the 1990s. Despite having a view of snow slopes and mountains, the interior atmosphere appears cold and lacks personality. When the designer Frances Merrill and her firm Reath Design were invited to renovate it, they discovered that the house lacked a sense of life. In her opinion, this was not just a style update, but a process of infusing the residence with emotional tension and a rhythm of life.

此次设计并未简单复制阿尔卑斯山木屋的传统意象，而是在回应地域语境的同时避免流于表面化的符号拼贴。梅里尔以结节松木板包覆墙面，并延伸至原有天花，使挑高起居室形成连续而温润的整体质感。艺术家尼克·杰洛米诺（Nik Gelormino）手工雕刻的木饰线条环绕空间，与厨房及主卫细部形成呼应。壁炉最终采用整面铜板包覆，在多次方案推敲后呈现出克制而精确的光泽，与木材的暖调形成细腻对比。

This design does not simply replicate the traditional image of Alpine wooden houses. Instead, it responds to the regional context while avoiding superficial symbol collage. Merrill covered the walls with knotty pine boards and extended them to the original ceiling, creating a continuous and warm overall texture for the high-ceilinged living room. Artist Nick Gelorminos hand-carved wooden decorative lines surround the space, echoing the details of the kitchen and master bathroom. The fireplace was finally covered with a full sheet of copper, achieving a restrained and precise luster after multiple scheme refinements, creating a delicate contrast with the warm tone of the wood.

家具陈设体现出经典与当代的交织：斯图迪奥·瓦列·德·瓦列（Studio Valle de Valle）的雕刻雪松边柜、丹·约翰·安德森（Dan John Anderson）的边几，以及1960年代图·鲍尔森（Tue Poulsen）的橡木与陶瓷茶几，共同构成层次丰富的起居场景。卡洛·斯卡帕（Carlo Scarpa）设计的Kentucky椅围合现代感十足的菲·图古德（Faye Toogood）玻璃纤维游戏桌，在自然光映照下呈现柔和光泽。

The furniture arrangement showcases the blending of classic and contemporary styles: the carved cedar side cabinet by Studio Valle de Valle, the side table by Dan John Anderson, and the oak and ceramic coffee table by Tue Poulsen from the 1960s, together creating a richly layered living space. The Kentucky chair designed by Carlo Scarpa frames the modern Faye Toogood fiberglass game table, which presents a soft sheen under natural light.

厨房的转变尤为显著：深绿色Rookwood瓷砖与赤陶地砖取代了原本明亮却略显单调的白色，松木岛台搭配磨光Ceppo Avorio大理石台面，辅以由古董刺绣桌布改制的半帘，使功能空间亦流露温情。主卧以Holland - Sherry绿色法兰绒包覆墙面与窗帘，营造出柔软而包裹性的氛围。整体改造在尊重山景壮丽的前提下，建立起含蓄而富有生命力的居住气质。

The transformation in the kitchen was particularly remarkable: dark green Rookwood tiles and terracotta floor tiles replaced the originally bright but somewhat monotonous white. The pine island countertop was paired with a polished Ceppo Avorio marble countertop, complemented by a semi-screen made from antique embroidered tablecloths, making the functional space also exude warmth. The master bedroom was covered with Holland - Sherry green velvet on the walls and curtains, creating a soft and enveloping atmosphere. The overall renovation, while respecting the grandeur of the mountain scenery, established a restrained yet vibrant living atmosphere.
