The Curator’s Room

在伦敦切尔西港设计中心开阔的中庭之中，设计师布丽吉塔·斯皮诺基娅·弗罗因德（Brigitta Spinocchia Freund）为 WOW!house 2025 打造的“The Curator’s Room”，更像一处可以被“居住”的空间，而非传统意义上的展陈装置。它以住宅的尺度与氛围展开，将策展、创作与沉静思考自然融合，形成一间承载女性创作者记忆与力量的当代室内空间。

In the spacious atrium of the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre in London, designer Brigitta Spinocchia Freund created The Curators Room for WOW!house 2025. This space is more like a place that can be lived in rather than a traditional exhibition installation. It unfolds within the scale and atmosphere of a residence, seamlessly integrating curating, creation, and quiet reflection, forming a contemporary interior space that carries the memories and strength of female creators.

整个空间被清晰地划分为两个部分：“工作室”与“庇护所”。“工作室”明亮而克制，气质近似一间安静的私人书房，书籍、草图与艺术作品有序陈列，营造出适合独处与思考的氛围；“庇护所”则色调更深，包裹感更强，围绕由 EDM 设计的雕塑感壁炉展开，更像是一处客厅或起居空间，适合低声交谈与情感交流。空间中的装饰立柱来自 Féau Boiseries，最初由阿芒-阿尔贝·拉托（Armand-Albert Rateau）于 1920 年为珍妮·朗万（Jeanne Lanvin）设计，使这间“房子”与女性私人创作空间的历史产生了跨越时间的联系。

The entire space is clearly divided into two parts: Studio and Shelter. The Studio is bright and restrained, with an atmosphere similar to a quiet private study. Books, sketches and artworks are neatly arranged, creating an environment suitable for solitude and reflection. The Shelter has a darker color tone and a stronger sense of enclosure. It is centered around an EDM-designed sculptural fireplace, more resembling a living room or a gathering space, suitable for low-key conversations and emotional exchanges. The decorative columns in the space are from Féau Boiseries. They were originally designed by Armand-Albert Rateau in 1920 for Jeanne Lanvin, establishing a connection across time between this house and the history of womens private creative spaces.

在家具与物件的选择上，这个空间几乎完全由女性创作者共同完成。斯皮诺基娅·弗罗因德以策展人的视角，将不同时代的作品并置在同一屋檐下：夏洛特·佩里安（Charlotte Perriand）的三门 Slideboard、加布里埃拉·克雷斯皮（Gabriella Crespi）的家具，与新生代艺术家达西·弗莱明（Darcey Fleming）的作品彼此呼应。地面铺设的 Tribute 定制地毯由 Stark 与凯瑟琳·亨特（Catherine Hunt）合作完成，87 位女性艺术家的名字被直接织入其中，成为支撑整个空间的隐形基础。

In terms of the selection of furniture and objects, this space was almost entirely created by female artists. Spinokija Froind, from the perspective of a curator, placed works from different eras side by side in the same room: Charlotte Perriands three Slideboard pieces, Gabriella Crespis furniture, and the works of the new generation artist Darcey Fleming echoed each other. The Tribute custom carpet laid on the floor was completed by Stark and Catherine Hunt together. The names of 87 female artists were directly woven into it, serving as an invisible foundation that supported the entire space.

艺术与工艺在这里不断交织。露艾拉·巴特利（Luella Bartley）的绘画《The Drop》经由 Hand - Lock 以刺绣重新演绎，使画面中的脆弱情绪获得更真实的触感；罗克珊达·伊林契奇（Roksanda Ilinčić）将服装语言转化为手绘天花，其灵感源自她对勒·柯布西耶（Le Corbusier）壁画的理解。受李·克拉斯纳（Lee Krasner）启发的帘幕、灯具、镜面与家具，共同构成一间既可观看、也可停留的空间。

Art and craftsmanship are constantly intertwined here. Luella Bartleys painting The Drop was reinterpreted by Hand - Lock through embroidery, giving the fragile emotions in the picture a more realistic touch; Roksanda Ilinčić transformed the language of clothing into hand-painted ceilings, inspired by her understanding of Le Corbusiers murals. Curtain panels, lamps, mirrors and furniture, all inspired by Lee Krasner, together form a space that can be both viewed and lingered in.

虽然这是一个临时搭建的项目，“The Curator’s Room”却呈现出完整而亲切的居住感，让女性的创作、劳动与情感在空间中被真正看见。

Although this is a temporary project, The Curators Room manages to create a complete and intimate living atmosphere, allowing womens creations, labor and emotions to be truly perceived within the space.
