This early 1800s captains mansion located in Sag Harbor, Long Island, has been skillfully transformed by Marbella designer and developer Saffron Case, giving it a modern yet warm living atmosphere. Passing through the wave-shaped facade, the interior space and the historical architectural details complement each other, presenting a casual yet elegant modern style. Initially, Cases intention in purchasing the mansion was merely to carry out a surface renovation for summer rental purposes, but during the gradual exploration of the space, she was deeply attracted by the unique charm of this building.

建于1806年的“船长宅邸”，曾是萨格港捕鲸繁荣时期的典型住宅。原始结构保留了木质推拉窗、木板外墙以及侧向山墙屋顶，展现了联邦风格（Federal Style）的建筑特征，而后期扩建则留下了维多利亚时期的印记。凯斯在翻新中注重尊重原有建筑肌理，同时注入现代生活所需的舒适与温暖。整座宅邸以天然材质、雕塑感家具和冷静而精致的氛围为核心，既有历史感，也符合当代生活方式。

The Captains Mansion, built in 1806, was a typical residence during the prosperous whaling era in Sag Harbor. The original structure retains wooden sliding windows, wooden exterior walls, and a side gable roof, showcasing the architectural features of the Federal Style. The later expansion leaves traces of the Victorian era. Kees focused on respecting the original architectural texture during the renovation, while injecting the comfort and warmth needed for modern life. The entire mansion is centered around natural materials, sculptural furniture, and a calm and refined atmosphere, combining historical charm with contemporary lifestyle.

室内空间经过精心尺度设计。与凯斯在加州项目中偏大的比例不同，这里房间相对紧凑，因此家具的选择与布局显得尤为讲究。客厅内，BDDW的黑色亚麻沙发搭配复古石灰华茶几和Obsolete的水磨石咖啡桌；Forsyth提供的皮革Pierre Paulin旋转椅为空间增添雕塑般的视觉焦点；Sophie Lou Jacobsen的吊灯兼具精致与戏剧感。色彩以自然柔和为主，通过托马斯·特鲁姆（Thomas Trum）的粉色艺术作品带来一抹活泼的趣味。

The interior space has been meticulously designed in terms of scale. Unlike the larger proportions seen in the project by Casey in California, the rooms here are relatively compact, which makes the selection and layout of furniture particularly meticulous. In the living room, the black linen sofa by BDDW is paired with a retro limestone coffee table and a terrazzo coffee table by Obsolete; the leather Pierre Paulin swivel chair provided by Forsyth adds a sculptural visual focus to the space; the pendant light by Sophie Lou Jacobsen combines elegance with a touch of drama. The colors are mainly natural and soft, and a touch of liveliness is added through Thomas Trums pink artworks.

整个设计巧妙融合历史与现代、精致与随性。厨房岛台上悬挂着The 1818 Collective甄选的复古吊灯；卫生间利用复古托盘改装镜面，并配以Rose Uniacke壁灯；主卧墙上BDDW的Tyler Hays手绘拼图作品，使色彩柔和而沉稳。楼梯卷饰、前窗古玻璃等历史细节呼应宅邸的过去，而亚麻、石材、水磨石与古铜材质则让空间落地于当下。整个居所清新宁静，又不失轻盈趣味，呈现出时间与现代生活交织的独特韵味。

The entire design skillfully combines history and modernity, refinement and casualness. On the kitchen island, a vintage chandelier selected by The 1818 Collective is hung; in the bathroom, a mirror is modified using a vintage tray and is complemented by a Rose Uniacke wall lamp; on the main bedroom wall, Tyler Hays hand-painted puzzle works by BDDW add a soft and stable color tone. The scroll decorations on the staircase, the ancient glass in the front window, and other historical details echo the past of the mansion, while the linen, stone, terrazzo and bronze materials place the space firmly in the present. The entire residence is fresh and peaceful, yet light and playful, presenting a unique charm that intertwines time and modern life.
