This urban residence located in Manhattan, New York, was designed by the Brooklyn-based Ishka Designs interior design firm. Through meticulous details, it breaks away from the conventional "following trends" vocabulary and brings the space back to the identity of the people and their daily experiences. Designer Anishka Clarke and Niya Bascom started from the clients cultural background, extracting abstract images of the Indian geographical outline and integrating them into lighting, mirrors and materials, giving the space a dual context that belongs to internal memory and echoes the external landscape. The custom-made mirror in the entrance, shaped like the Indian subcontinent, is not only decorative but also a silent introduction of culture.

开放式客厅以功能与诗意并举的方式回应城市风景。设计师巧妙地将电视机藏于五英寸深的橡木柜中，使其化身雕塑般的存在，而定制羊毛地毯的纹理与不对称铺陈犹如航拍地图，与周围玻璃墙外的天际线相互呼应。这种“将外界引入内部”的设计理念贯穿整个客厅，家具亦呈现灵活性与光影互动，譬如可重组的 Nendo 咖啡桌和随光线若隐若现的 Murano 玻璃边桌。

The open-plan living room responds to the urban landscape in a way that combines functionality and poetry. The designer ingeniously hid the television in a five-inch deep oak cabinet, transforming it into a sculptural presence. The texture and asymmetrical arrangement of the custom wool carpet resemble an aerial map, echoing the skyline outside the glass walls. This "bringing the outside in" design concept runs through the entire living room. The furniture also exhibits flexibility and light interaction, such as the reconfigurable Nendo coffee table and the Murano glass side table that appears and disappears with the light.

餐厅区域以圆桌为核心，象征包容与交流，“无始无终”的形态让每一位坐席都有发言的空间。圆形吊灯、植物与作品共同营造一种开放、流动的氛围。空间中融入了来自南非艺术家 Thokozani Mthiyane（托科扎尼·姆提亚尼）和日本艺术家 Hiroko Takeda（竹田裕子）的作品，这些媒介与材质间的对话深化了居所的文化层次。

The dining area is centered around round tables, symbolizing inclusiveness and communication. The "endless" shape provides each seating area with the opportunity to express themselves. The circular chandeliers, plants, and artworks jointly create an open and flowing atmosphere. The space incorporates works by South African artist Thokozani Mthiyane and Japanese artist Hiroko Takeda. This dialogue between the mediums and materials deepens the cultural level of the residence.

卧室与套房延续整体叙事。主卧的木质屏风呼应印度传统刻花格栅，床边的 DeMuro Das（日穆罗·达斯）日间床将经典与当代融合。客房的家具可根据需求在沙发与床之间转变，使空间具备灵活适应性。整个住宅设计摒弃浮华，以精炼的形式与富含意义的细节，构建出一处既能静心栖居，又能映照主人身份与世界观的都市静逸之地。

The bedroom and the suite continue the overall narrative. The wooden screen in the master bedroom echoes the traditional Indian carved lattice, while the DeMuro Das daybed by the bedside combines classic and contemporary styles. The furniture in the guest rooms can be transformed between a sofa and a bed, making the space highly adaptable. The entire residential design eschews extravagance and instead uses a refined form and meaningful details to create a serene urban retreat that can both provide a peaceful residence and reflect the owners identity and worldview.
