The Bahru House embodies Jasper Goh’s philosophy of seeking serenity through material honesty and tonal restraint. As the founder and principal designer of Ascend Design, Goh began his career in the world of fashion—a background that profoundly shaped his perception of form, proportion, and the emotional resonance of space.

“This intersection between fashion and design truly defines the way I think about space,” he explains. “I’ve always been fascinated by how form, texture, and proportion influence how we feel within an environment. Ascend was born from a desire to create homes that feel calm, intentional, and quietly beautiful.”

灵感来自他最近一次前往巴厘岛的旅行。那次旅程带来的宁静体验，被他转化为室内的视觉与触感语言：柔和的绿色调、带有细腻纹理的大理石、温润的木质饰面，共同营造出一种自然平衡、轻盈流动的氛围。空间中，家具仿佛漂浮于光影之间，线条流畅而从容，细节更注重氛围的营造而非表面的装饰——从内敛雕塑感的木质餐桌，到包裹在绿色大理石中的水疗式浴室，每一处都在诉说一种安静的力量。

Drawing inspiration from a recent trip to Bali, Goh translated the island’s serene atmosphere into a tactile and visual language of design: soft green hues, textured marble, and warm wood surfaces form the foundation of a tranquil, fluid interior. The furniture seems to float effortlessly within the space; details favor mood over ornament—from the sculptural wooden dining table to the spa-like bathroom enveloped in green marble, every element exudes quiet sophistication.

“我对待 The Bahru House 的方式，就像为一个人穿衣：理解它的比例，叠加不同的质地，让细节说话。” Goh 补充道，“我始终被那种柔和的结构吸引——它既高雅，又有人情的温度。我希望这种感受贯穿整个房子，让居住者在其中感受到被时间温柔包裹的宁静。”

“I approached The Bahru House the same way I would dress a person—understanding its proportions, layering textures, and letting the details speak,” Goh reflects. “I’ve always been drawn to gentle structures—those that feel refined yet human. I think that sense of softness and grace lives throughout the house, allowing its inhabitants to feel cocooned in a calm, timeless comfort.”
