Our Belgian Midcentury project re-envisions a 3,100-square-foot gambrel colonial home, located on one of Aquidneck Islands most coveted ocean-side avenues in Rhode Island. For Moore House Design, this endeavor was about imparting a modern, European sensibility to a classic New England form.

与众多建于1980年代的新英格兰住宅相似，本案的原始状态堪称“时代的缩影”：充斥着流水线化的标准装潢与多处半途而废的改造，为业主留下的，是一个风格破碎、叙事断裂的起点。

Like so many of the 1980s colonials we encounter across New England, this house was a product of its time—defined by builder-grade finishes and a series of half-finished renovations.

Moore House Design的此次革新，意在缝合这些历史的碎片，超越单纯的空间改造，进而构筑一种更深层次的联结——为住宅及其守护者，赋予一种存在的意义与归属感。

It presented our clients with a fragmented canvas, a narrative interrupted by disparate styles and incomplete ideas. This project, therefore, sought to mend these fractures, aiming not merely to renovate but to reconstruct a deeper connection—ultimately restoring a sense of purpose and belonging for both the home and its stewards.

回顾历史，美国东海岸大量建于上世纪80年代的殖民风格建筑，其建造往往缺乏自觉的美学思考，导致其与历史文脉脱节，与传统手工艺的联结也随之失落。有鉴于此，Moore House Design在本案中毅然选择回归本源，将目光聚焦于充满生命力的自然材质与在地技艺。

The proliferation of 1980s colonials on the East Coast often resulted in homes built without intentionality, severing ties to historical precedent and the authenticity of craft. In response, Moore House Design chose to return to the very essence of making. We committed to a palette of natural, earthen materials, all meticulously crafted by local artisans.

从温润如玉的塔德莱克特抹面，到匠心独运的精细木作；从严谨精确的家具榫卯工艺，到充满力量感的手工锻造铁艺，乃至每一处细节精湛的定制软装——无不源于本地工匠的亲手创造。这既是对往昔手工艺黄金时代的致敬，也是在机器量产时代下，对“家”之本真质感与温度的一次深情唤回。

From the sculptural, waterproof surfaces of tadelakt plaster to the exquisite joinery of custom cabinetry; from the solid, honest forms of hand-forged ironwork to the tailored precision of bespoke upholstery—every detail stands as a testament to the human hand. This is more than an aesthetic choice; it is a deliberate homage to craft in an age of mass production, a reaffirmation of the timeless texture and warmth that define a true home.
