四合院的灵魂,在于其建筑结构对自然的谦逊接纳。院墙不高不矮,恰好围合出一方天地,却又留出足够的天空与风的路。
The soul of the siheyuan lies in its architectural structures humble acceptance of nature. The courtyard walls, neither too high nor too low, gently enclose a realm of their own, while still leaving ample passage for the sky and the wind.
步入一进院,视野豁然开朗。青砖铺地的庭院,被建筑体量温柔环抱,形成一种向心的安定感。正房略为抬高,厢房左右对称,但并不拘泥于严格的轴线,而是以松弛的节奏引导人向前行走。
Stepping into the first courtyard, the view opens up suddenly. The bluestone-paved courtyard is softly embraced by the building volumes, creating a centering sense of tranquility. The main house is slightly elevated, with flanking rooms distributed symmetrically yet not rigidly bound to a strict axis, guiding movement forward with a relaxed rhythm.
院落的布局不着痕迹地引导着身体的移动与停留。从一进院到二进院,需经过一道低矮的门廊,空间由开阔转为半围合,光线也随之柔和。

核心区域并未完全封闭,而是通过柱廊、槛窗与庭院保持视觉的贯通。人坐在室内,抬眼便能望见院中的树冠与天空的流云。
The core area is not fully enclosed but maintains visual continuity with the courtyard through colonnades and latticed windows.
四合院的真正魅力,在于它让人同时处于“内”与“外”之间。檐下的灰空间尤其关键——它既是建筑的延伸,也是庭院的过渡。雨天时,可在此静听雨打青砖;晴日里,可观光影在西墙上游走。
The true charm of the siheyuan lies in how it allows one to exist simultaneously inside and outside. The transitional space under the eaves is especially vital—it is both an extension of the architecture and a passageway into the courtyard.On rainy days, one may sit here listening to the rain tapping the bluestones; on clear days, watching shadows glide along the west wall.
夜幕降临后,院中的灯光极尽克制,仅以微弱暖光勾勒出建筑的轮廓,而不与星月争辉。人坐于榻上,无需刻意远望,便能感知到院中气息的流动。
After nightfall, lighting in the courtyard is restrained—only soft, warm glows outline the forms of the buildings, without competing with the moon and stars. Sitting indoors, one need not deliberately gaze afar to sense the flow of life in the yard.
在这座院落中,人与自然的关系并非被“设计”出来的,而是由空间的结构自然而然地引出的。它不试图征服自然,也不一味复古,而是让建筑成为一首沉默的诗,陪伴居住者找回与天地共呼吸的东方生活本质
In this courtyard, the relationship between people and nature is not artificially designed—it emerges naturally from the very structure of the space. It does not seek to conquer nature, nor does it simply imitate the past. Instead, it lets architecture become a silent poem, accompanying those who dwell here to rediscover the essence of Eastern living—breathing as one with heaven and earth.
