The aim of this collection was to honour the DNA of Sutherland, retaining the attention to detail and the perfectly executed joinery. Details showcase skilled craftsmanship and the use of rich, refined, solid but tactile materials (weathered teak, weaving, high end fabrics). The pure, essential, but at the same time very elegant and sensual formal language of the 1930s, was an inspiration during the design of the collection. Franck’s design aesthetic is based on the idea of passe-partout: the creation of simple but refined objects that are timeless, which fit in both classic and modern environments. Sutherland is also about the ability to transport the domestic feeling to the outside, the outdoor environment. The armchair was the point of departure for the whole collection, and influenced the rest of the pieces.
